So the last six months have been pretty crazy. With moving across the country, starting a new job, reuniting with best friends, and being away from family a lot has happen.
Lets start from the beginning:
So to start everything off I had to leave my amazing job at Goddard behind. I still miss all my co-workers and all the kiddos so much. You can't get much better than them.
Through a very rushed and stressful week Nick and I packed everything up and stuffed it into a Uhaul and started the journey with our kitty hanging out in the backseat and said goodbye to Columbus.
After 3 days we finally made it to Vegas! I love our little apartment. It's very comfy and has everything we need, including a spa tub! But just look at this view from our patio. You can't get that in Ohio. With my mom's help we made it a home very quickly with all our Ikea furniture.
After settling in I started setting up my classroom. You can ask my Goddard co-workers I had no idea what direction to go in when thinking about a theme. I didn't know what first graders liked or what would be "cool" to them. This is until I was in Ikea and saw this circus tent and knew that was my theme. So I printed, cut, and laminated everything circus you could think of (plus spent 300 dollars of my own money to get my classroom ready- teacher life!) After all the hard work and long hours and I loved my classroom and still do!
September came and went with long hours at work establishing a routine and exploring Vegas with friends. One of my favorite discoveries was a brunch stop called, Babystacks. I mean look at these Banana Cream Pie pancakes. Yummmmm!
October was busy with Nick's birthday and Halloween.
We found an awesome pumpkin patch in the desert. By awesome I mean in the middle of nowhere. I celebrated Halloween at school dressing up as a super hero! My kids loved my nightgown, Wonder Women custom. It even had a cape!
Probably my favorite activity we did was seeing Britney Spears. This was the one concert or show I wanted to go to since we moved here and we went on Halloween! It was amazing and the 90s girl in me went crazy. Nick and I were up singing and dancing to all the songs while some people around us looked at us like we were crazy. O well it's "Britney Bitch!"
Nick also got to experience his first hike at Red Rock. We love to hike. It's probably one of our favorite things to do with Anna and Zach with the exception of beating them at Monopoly. We are such an exciting group of friends living in Vegas right? Hiking and Monopoly makes us happy!
In November we spent one of our long weekends in San Diego with Zach and Anna. We went to the beach and the zoo. I've been there before, but being able to drive to the beach in less than four hours has to be one of my long lost dreams.
Aren't they cute :)
For all my AOII sisters, PANDA!
To celebrate Anna's birthday we went to a wine and painting class and let me tell you I'm not an artist at all, but we didn't do half bad. It could have been a lot worse. Plus it was a lot of fun! If you haven't been to one yet, I recommend it!
We celebrated Thanksgiving with our best friends. It was definitely weird not being with family, but Zach and Anna are a close second. Plus Zach cooked a mean turkey. We had enough food to feed an army. After dinner, Nick had to go to work and Zach, Anna and I went shopping!
December was very busy between Christmas decorating, plane ticket buying, Nascar driver stalking and wrapping up 2014. Here is our Christmas tree from this year. It was a Buckeye tree!
We went and saw Christmas lights and it was so weird! We were wearing t-shirts and shorts and the lights were on cactuses. Totally different than lights at the zoo.
We went to see the Christmas decorations down on the Strip and they were amazing. This is inside my favorite hotel, The Bellagio. That is a real tree! Amazing!
Plus this polar bear is made up of all flowers!
Then I was on a mission to find the NASCAR drivers that were in town for Champion's Week. Zach, Anna and Nick stuck with me as we walked all the way down the strip to the hotel they were having the banquet in and waited for them to come out. I may not have seen Dale Jr, but I wasn't disappointed! I saw Ryan Newman, the president of Nascar and many others. Zach was especially excited to see Guy Fieri.
Even though this is really blurry, it is 2014 Nascar champ Kevin Harvick. I was able to tell him and his wife Delana congratulations and they both looked right at me and said thank you! Night made!
To wrap up 2014 we flew home to spend the holidays with our families and it was a great recharge for the upcoming year. It was great to spend time with my mom and go to BG and spend New Years with my best friends. Anna, Maddi and I even got tattoos to represent our sorority and if you know me you know I was terrified, but it wasn't too bad. Those two weeks flew by and here we are back home and back into the swing of things. 2014 was a huge year, with major changes in my life, but I look forward to see what 2015 will bring.
